Peel Island (Teerk Roo Ra)

Peel Island has a travel time of approximately 40 minutes each way

Small heritage – listed island

Peel Island has a rich history that includes the use as a quarantine station, leper colony & asylum.
Aboriginal History, before European settlement.
The island was known to the Quandamooka people as Teerk Roo Ra & was used for ceremonial purposes.

Popularity remains high, as it can only be accessed by water.

Peel Island is a low lying Island, with a tranquil white sandy beach. Situated in the southern half of Moreton bay. Surrounding waters Teem with marine life, including dolphin’s, dugong, turtles & more.

We can whisk you, over to the Island to soak up some sunshine. With a beach walk, sunbathe or swim amongst Peel Islands Glittery waters.

Moreton Island

Approximately 1 hour & 30 minutes travel each way, from Raby Bay Harbour Public Jetty.

Listed as some of the top iconic beaches in Queensland.
Local aboriginals named it Moorgumpin ” Place of the sandhills”

The sand dunes of Moreton Island. Formed by sand that caught & built up behind rocks. In a process that began at least 500,000 years ago. Highest dune in the world – 280 meters above sea level

Renowned for it’s friendly & interactive dolphins,
attracting marine biologists globally.
Water clarity around parts of the island are so exceptional,
that the endangered dugong can be found grazing close to the shore lines.
These stunning waters host 6 of the worlds 7 species of turtles.
Wildlife species within the island include the silver gull, pelicans, pied oyster catcher, white ibis & the crested tern.
Home to the bandicoot, a few species of bats & gliders.

One Mile, North Stradbroke Island (Minjerribah)

Approximately 1 hour travel each way. From Raby Bay Harbour Public Jetty.

Stradbroke is a sub – tropical island.
The Aboriginal name – Minjerribah “place of many mosquitoes”
The worlds second largest sand island.

In 1828 Dunwich was a convict timber depot.
There was no official use until 1849.
In the 1870s, became the main Quarantine station.
The Asylum, was one of Queensland’s largest mental health asylums.
Built in 1866.
Patients were then moved to Peel island Lazaret in 1907

The Little Ship Club, is nestled on the picturesque waterfront.
Welcoming guests to dine in.
Locally sourced seafood, hamburgers, juicy fillet steaks & tasty salads.
